STARFOX COMMAND

After the fall of Andross and the crushing of the Aparoids, peace was returned to the Lylat System. The Star Fox Team had broken up, parting ways. Without a warning, a new terror arises from the toxic Venom Sea, the Anglar Empire! Anglar Forces begin invading planets, controlling vital areas and causing mass destruction; an event that would become known as the Anglar Blitz. Alarmed, members of Star Fox and more set out on their own adventures to try and stop the menace. Depending on the paths chosen, friendships will be made and old allies may just decide to team up together, or the opposite! Friends may turn on each other and foes will be added to the fray. As everybody ventures across Lylat freeing occupied areas and destroying fleets, they soon learn of the head of the operations, the Anglar Emperor. After de-toxifying the Venom Sea, pilots fly in and take on the Anglar Emperor. What the end has in store, is up to the decisions made by each of the heroes.

GAMEPLAY

StarFox Command utilized the Nintendo DS. Many of the games functions require use of the touch screen.

Ship Touch Screen & Stylus=Move, Spin, Bomb, Loop, U-Turn/
L,R,A,B,X,Y,D-Pad=Fire/Start=Pause
Map Touch Screen & Stylus=Fog Clear [if any], Missiles, Move/
L,R,A,B,X,Y,D-Pad=End Turn/Start=Pause

The game is primarily open field battle (i.e. All-range Mode) during stage battles, however it follows a fairly linear path overall, though the player decides which paths will be taken through out the adventure. The goal of the game is to attack any fleets containing enemies, taking out missiles, and freeing enemy occupied bases. When taking on small fleets, all one has to do is take out the primary target by shooting them down and collecting a set amount of Cores within the time limit. To free a base, the above must be met and then a successful spin must be performed to take out the invading Mother Ship of the area. If time runs out you will run out of fuel and crash. At times the player will be challenegd with a missile heading for Great Fox. Great Fox must be protected by any threats, its destruction results in a game over. To stop a missile it must be followed and shot down.

On the map the player must choose where all ships are to go by drawing a path. They can regain more fuel and move further if they cross over a freed base. There is a set amount of turns the player can move in total before running out of turns, or fuel rather. Extra turns are obtained by destroying Mother Ships. If the player obtains a missile, it can be used by Great Fox to shoot down oncoming enemy fleets, but not enemy missiles or bases. Extra time, missiles, and health can be found through out maps and in stages.

Multiplayer consists of the same basic control scheme, exempting the map layout as no map moving is present. The goal is to shoot down the opposing player(s) and win. Star Fox Command can be played over Wi-fi. Wi-fi battles are ranked A-Z (A being the highest, Z being the lowest), only by defeating others will the player rank up.

TRIVIA

-Speculation has led to this game being believed by many as non-canon to the series much like the original StarFox.

-It's thought by some that all endings to the game are canon, even though many go against each other or cancel another out.

-Many of the games functions and art direction were taken from the scrapped game StarFox 2 such as the map gameplay and each character having their own ship designs and stats.

-StarFox Command is the only game in the series to feature 9 different possible endings and a wide array of playable characters. In fact, it has the most characters any Star Fox title has ever held.
